The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility is nowadays a commonly used term. However, many people do only have a vague idea of what it really means. Therefore, we want to explicitly answer the question what social commitment means to us:

During our first visit to Zambia we immediately realized that mere donations would not be the right answer to sustainably help the people or the development of the country. More crucial is structural support. This means enabling people by giving them an opportunity to improve their lives with their own efforts. Together with our strong production partner, we were able to design a unique high-quality frame, which fulfills all EU, US and Japanese standards. Quality control, the selection of components and the final bike assembly is ensured by us in Germany.

We accomplish this structural support by creating jobs with our local production partner Zambikes. Each bike that is being sold by zuri directly supports 5 jobs.

For our co-workers this employment does not only mean short term financial security – it represents a handcraft, access to the education of their children, a value set in which they believe and a secured future. Thereby our employees gain self-confidence, a feeling of security and the belief in a brighter future for their families.

For the entire country our contribution is still rather small, but we changed the lives of our 25 employees. With each additional bike sale, we create jobs and give people an opportunity for a better life. zuri is the synonym for high value design, lifestyle and social commitment – grown to perform.
